What draws me to this category isn't the aesthetic outcomes. It's the science arriving just ahead of where the market is looking. Most of what gets called innovation in this industry isn't new. It's a pattern that's been visible in adjacent fields for years, sometimes decades. The brands that win tend to be the ones that saw it coming and built for it before the consensus caught up. That's the part of this work I find hard to leave alone.
